Finchampstead circular walk March 19th The walk starts outside of the Sailing Club at Horseshoe Lake in Little Sandhurst and makes use of local footpaths to traverse Bluebell Woods, cross Wellingtonia Avenue, to visit the wooded area around Simon’s Pond. It continues back to the Finchampstead Ridges, with fine views over the Blackwater valley and then follows a trail that brings us out near Moregreen Lake. The last leg of the return route, in part, makes use of a section of the Blackwater path from Moregreen Lake back to the start at Horseshoe Lake. SU 8201 6210 5.2 miles
Basingstoke Canal circular walk April 16th This walk which starts at the Basingstoke Canal Centre at Mytchett, proceeds along the canal tow path, through Deepcut, to the Curzon Bridge which is close to the forth of the Locks of the Brookwood flight of locks. The walk, after proceeding through a small area of woodlands beside the railway known as Hodge Bottom, then turns approximately south to proceed across some gravelly pine wooded hills (Frimley Ridges) to the starting point. The last section includes a fine view over Farnborough and the Blackwater valley. SU 8931 5506 5.3 miles
Deepcut circular walk May 21sd This walk of starts at the junction of Woodland Road and Deepcut Bridge road by Deepcut Garage, in the centre of the village. The walk passes St Barbara’s Regimental church, made of iron, and then proceeds east along a path North Of the Canal, following the trail of a railway used during the time of world war one, to the first of the Brookwood flight of locks, where the route crosses the canal and then proceeds back to Deepcut bridge. The walk next takes a route into the woods to the west of Deepcut, across Frith Hill, and through the Frimley Fuel Allotments to the North Edge of Pine Ridge Golf course. It continues along a path that at first goes round the outside of the Golf course and then follows a small stream through the centre of the course. The final section continues along the many wooded paths in this locality to eventually reach Blackdown road and finally the starting point in Woodland road. SU 9042 5740 6.0 miles
Sandhurst circular walk June 18th This walk starts at the Memorial Recreation Ground at Sandhurst. After a short walk along the Blackwater valley path to Swan Lane, it continues along Scotland Hill, and then takes a path beside the railway to Little Sandhurst. Here the walk continues through the Ambarrow Court Reserve and around Ambarrow Hill. Next it takes a wooded path near Wellington College to Crowthorne, and then goes through Edgebarrow woods to Edgebarrow Hill. It continues across the Wildmoor Heath reserve, with its wetland habitat, making use of the boardwalk through the boggy part to the south. The next section takes a route through Snaprails park, before returning to the start at Sandhurst memorial park. SU 8425 6134 6.6 miles
Minley circular walk July 16th This walk starts from the junction of Minley Road and Trunk road in Farnborough and continues along the old Bramshott lane, past Great Bramshot Farmhouse, and then takes a path through the MOD owned area of Ansell’s Meadow. Making use of a bridge over the M3, the route heads north past the interesting ‘Bridge To Nowhere’, to the area just South of Minley Manor with fine views of this grade 2 star listed building. On the return journey the walk takes a route through Hawley woods, beside Hawley Lake, to our starting position in North Cove. SU 8436 5651 7.4 miles
Blackwater circular walk Aug 20th This walk, starts outside the MacDonald’s in Farnborough Gate. The walk then joins the Blackwater path in Frimley Business park and continues through Hawley Meadows to Blackwater bridge. The return journey from Blackwater passes through Hawley Common to Hawley lake, to emerge onto the Firnhill Road in Farnborough. From there the walk, although through urban North Farnborough, will make use of alley ways where possible, and include a visit to the Cove Brook at Moor Road recreation ground. SU 8723 5717 6.6 miles
Farnborough circular walk Sept 17th This walk, starts from Napier Gardens in North Camp Farnborough, and then proceeds south along the Queens Parade until the Iron Bridge over the Basingstoke Canal is reached. The walk then continues east along the Basingstoke Canal tow path, past Ash Lock, to the Aqueduct at North Town where the Blackwater path is reached. Approximately following the Blackwater path, the route passes through the Lakeside reserve and over the restored Hollybush Hill and then completes along Redvers-Buller road, through the military area of North Camp for a return to Napier Gardens SU 8740 5345 5.3 miles
Old Dean circular walk Oct 15th This walk starts at the junction of Kingston Road, Bracknell road in the old Dean Estate Camberley (by Collingwood College) and then proceeds north across the open or pine -wooded area once known as Swinley Forrest. On route we pass Lower Star Post, cross the Devil’s highway, and proceed to the Look Out Discovery centre off Nine-Mile Ride. Our return journey takes a slightly more easterly path so as to include Rapley Lake. SU 8910 6202 8.0 miles
Fleet Pond circular walk Nov 19th The walk starts in the car park of the Fleet Pond Reserve and includes a complete loop of the reserve and a trail through the adjacent Bramshot Area. SU 8247 5531 3.7 miles
